APC Postpones House of Representatives Primary Election to May 16

The All Progressives Congress has postponed its House of Representatives Primary Election for the 2027 General Elections to Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The party made the announcement in a press statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

According to the statement, previously announced dates for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, Governorship and Presidential primaries remain unchanged.

Under the revised timetable, the House of Representatives primaries will now hold on Saturday, May 16, while the Senate primaries are scheduled for Monday, May 18.

The State House of Assembly primaries will take place on Wednesday, May 20, followed by the Governorship primaries on Thursday, May 21. The Presidential primary election is expected to hold on Saturday, May 23.

The ruling party did not state reasons for the postponement of the House of Representatives exercise.

  • State House of Assembly — Wednesday, May 20, 2026
  • Governorship — Thursday, May 21, 2026
  • Presidential — Saturday, May 23, 2026
